The hospital’s history page says HBCH and the second Varanasi hospital “are the units of Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai (Grant-in-Aid Institution of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India)”. From railway cancer hospital to Tata Memorial Centre

According to the hospital’s history page, HBCH is the erstwhile Indian Railway Cancer Hospital. Tata Memorial Centre renovated it with the help of Tata Trusts, and it was made functional from 1 May 2018. The Prime Minister formally inaugurated HBCH and the second Varanasi hospital on 19 February 2019. The hospital is named after Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, the Indian nuclear physicist.

Which patients come to HBCH

HBCH and the Tata Memorial hospital on the BHU campus (MPMMCC) are separate hospitals. The hospital says they work “as complementary units” under one Director, and that they are about 8 km apart, about 20 minutes’ drive. The official HBCH page says HBCH “mainly caters to Paediatric Medical Oncology as well as Paediatric and Adult Haematolymphoid malignancy”.
